Beyond the joy of the second part

Beyond the happiness of the second part, in this part, we continue the contents of the previous part.

Continuation of the difference between eudaimonia and happiness

Happiness is measured by the amount of pleasure received;

It can be achieved through unethical methods and luck also has an effect on it.

But eudaimonia is an existential state, it lasts.

It is measured by being the best and can only be achieved in a moral life.

Happiness is good fortune or happiness that comes from having material things such as money, good children, great position, high status, influential friends, good looks and physical health.

And because of this, it is sometimes confused with eudaimonia.

These materials are also necessary to reach eudaimonia, but they are not sufficient.

In addition to happiness, eudaimonia includes virtue, morality and meaning in life.

The ultimate goal of philosophy is to become better human beings and to use all of our unique capabilities as humans and realize all of them;

That is, if you have a child, be the best in raising him;

If you are a doctor, be the best in treating your patients;

If you are a philosopher, be the best in acquiring knowledge and wisdom and teaching it to others.

Every person has many roles in life and by becoming the best in them, he can reach eudaimonia.

In addition, everyone has a common goal with other people, except for their individual role in life, and they must become the best in that task, and that goal is to be human.

Methods for creating eudaimonia

1_ Conscious life:

Have a conscious attitude towards yourself and the world;

And instead of being immersed in the endless tasks of life and neglecting yourself, your dreams and interests.

Be present in the moment, be aware of what you are doing and make informed decisions regarding the things that are really important to you.

2_Self acceptance:

When you accept yourself completely and don’t try to hide your weaknesses and instead of pretending to be what you are not, focus on what you really are;

You realize what you really need to achieve lasting happiness.

3_ being purposeful:

With mindfulness and acceptance, choose long-term success and center your personal and professional life around it and make decisions and act based on it.

This goal should be in line with your true self and create inner satisfaction in you.

4_Strengthening skills:

In addition to spiritual goals, happiness also depends on material goals.

Without work, income and savings, you cannot be happy, healthy and satisfied.

Therefore, use your skills and talents and reach better positions.

5_ Positive communication:

establishing relationships with people who encourage you and help you grow;

They empathize with you and listen to you.

And those who give you emotional support have an important effect on your happiness;

Because understanding, encouragement and support along with guidance and constructive criticism lead to growth and as a result create lasting happiness.

Towards lasting happiness

Eudaimonia is not just happiness;

It is a kind of inner satisfaction with moral life, prosperity, personal and spiritual growth in life.

Living well in this sense is not a happy life with success.

Acceptance of limitations, fear, failure, pain and suffering is also considered.

Some mistakenly think that eudaimonia means living a good life, enjoying the riches and pleasures of life, regardless of the consequences for others.

According to Aristotle, this behavior is not humane, and someone who only seeks pleasure instead of living morally is out of the definition of eudaimonia.
